Library

The library was founded by setting up a point of reading in 2001, as an expression of the library's Superintendence for Cultural Heritage and Environmental Catania.

The initial allocation, not large but constantly increasing, included archeology texts and of architecture of castles, and a small group of old books and valuable published between the sixteenth and nineteenth century were already in the museum.

Among them:

the Orlando Furioso by Ludovico Ariosto, published in Venice by the heirs of Vincent Valgrisi in 1580 with engraved frontispiece of the architectural kind and full of carvings and friezes.

The bibliographic heritage, which now consists of 2,500 volumes, in the process of collating, census, registration and cataloging is being studied for the great represented interest , not only for the valuable works, but also for those editions, so-called "modern" post 1830 and who are the mirror of significant historical periods of the first 900.

Editions that show a vision of history, traditions and culture of the territory, that with different facets testify the importance of Adrano as the center of culture with a flourish of scholars and writers.

Periodicals

The collection of periodicals in the Museum of Adrano testifies, for most part, social and cultural history of the years that go by the last decades of the nineteenth century until the eighties of the twentieth century.

Through the journals, the common experience of a microcosm of the province is divided and described not only through words, but also and especially through the colorful illustrations of covers and captivating advertising images.
