Visit to Museum - Pre-Historic Section - Eneolithic Age - -

The Aeneolithic Age (III millenium B.C.), the period in which the Aeolian Islands undergo a progressive economic and demographic recession, documented in its chronological and cultural evolution, as follows: Early Aeneolithic (first half III millenium B.C.), with the FIG. 9 - Pottery with the graffito design on the surface Diana/Spatarella stylepottery of the "Diana/Spatarella Style" (Fig.9); Mid Aeneolithic (mid III millenium B.C.), documented by the "Culture of Piano Conte"(from the name of an area of the island of Lipari), with a production of brown pottery decorated with wide furrows, using Oriental, Anatolian motifs (Fig.10); Final Aeneolithic (second half III millenium B.C.), documented by the "Culture of Piano FIG. 11 - Piano Quartara style potteryQuartara" (from the name of an area of the island of Panarea), with a production of a rather coarse pottery, that appears similar to that of other Sicilian cultures (Chiusazza, Malpasso, Conca d’Oro), in particular, pots with a "boat-shaped" formation around the top, as well as handles, that present an "elbow-shaped" trend with a pointed piece (Fig.11).
