Clay acroterion in shape of a knight from Camarina

Sector C is dedicated to the sub-colonies of Syracuse (Eloro and Akrai the oldest; Camarina, the most important and wealthy, with its vast necropolis of classical age), the large colonies of south-eastern Sicily (Agrigento, Gela) and to those Hellenised native centers.
Among the more interesting settlements it’s worth mentioning Grammichele, Monte San Mauro and Francavilla di Sicilia. From the latter site it comes a large deposit of pinakes, small squares in terracotta decorated in relievo, dedicated to the worship of Demeter and Kore.
